West Australian Opera is committed to bringing magical operatic moments to Western Australians through presenting ‘Opera in the Regions’. We are delighted to announce a new location in Exmouth which is made possible by the support of the Minderoo Foundation. Opera in Ningaloo will be held on Saturday 15th June this year.
Starring West Australian artists Katja Webb, Fiona Campbell, Paul O’Neill and James Clayton accompanied by Tommaso Pollio this concert will feature famous hits from Carmen’s Habenera to Bizet’s Pearl Fishers duet.
“Our aim is to share opera beyond the traditional theatre spaces and invite audiences to experience a taster of all opera has to offer. Glorious music with ever-relevant stories performed by world class Australian singers” said Chris van Tuinen, Music Director, West Australian Opera.
West Australian Opera’s Executive Director, Carolyn Chard AM said that “West Australian Opera started presenting opera in the regions in celebration of its 50th year in 2017 and this was enabled directly through support from Royalties for Regions, Principal Partner Wesfarmers Arts, Healthway Act-Belong-Commit and the state government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
The suite of concerts includes Opera in the Pinnacles, Opera in the Valley of the Giants and now Opera in Ningaloo which we are thrilled to present with the generous support of the Minderoo Foundation”.
Minderoo director Nicola Forrest said “Living in a regional or remote community shouldn’t preclude you from experiencing an exceptional artistic experience in Western Australia. At Minderoo Foundation, we are passionate about increasing access to the arts and are thrilled to be supporting this West Australian Opera experience in beautiful Exmouth.”.
Opera in Ningaloo is a free ‘opera in the park’ event. West Australian Opera invites patrons to bring a picnic and a blanket and enjoy this free event with your friends and family. Tickets are not required.
